Regular (Fall/Winter) Season
The Carmel Corsairs hockey program operates as part of the Carmel Catholic High School Athletic Department under the direction of the Athletic Director.
The sport is recognized by the athletic department, and players earn letters and other recognition similar to other sports. This includes recognition in the school's yearbook, announcements at school, pep rallies, etc.
Teams
Carmel Catholic High School fields a Varsity and Junior Varsity team.
Both teams play in the highly competitive Scholastic Hockey League.
Dates
Tryouts are typically held in mid/late August with the season starting immediately after and running through mid-March.
Where
Glacier Ice Arena in Vernon Hills is our home ice for practices, skills sessions, and games.
SHL away games are hosted a various rinks across Chicagoland.
Practice, Skills, Training
Teams practice two to three times per week (60-90 minutes) and also have one 60 minutes skills session per week.
Hockey specific fitness and weight training is run throughout the year in the collegiate-like setting of the 12,000 sq. foot Carmel Catholic High School Fitness Center.
Games
Carmel Catholic Varsity & JV hockey teams will play:
- 27 SHL games
- ~10 non-league games
- 3-5 tournaments (in and out of town)
- SHL Playoffs (as earned)
- Illinois State Playoffs (as earned)
Teams average 55-65 games per season.

how to register for fall/winter
- USA Hockey: Obtain a USA Hockey Number for the current playing year
- Register for the regular season team: Register here
- Signup for Hockey on the Carmel Catholic High School Veracross Portal
- From "Athletics" on the Veracross Portal, select "Register for a Sport"
- Submit Physical to Carmel Catholic High School: via the Carmel VeraCross portal: Upload here.
- SafeSport: If your player will turn 17 by December 31st, they must complete SafeSport
- Attend the Parent Kickoff Meeting (at least one parent):
- WHEN: Saturday, August 19th @ 1:00pm-1:45pm (please be prompt)
- WHERE: Glacier Ice Arena South Parking Lot
- WHAT: Coach Eberhardt will walk through the season and important items.
- Stay and attend the Volunteer Meeting:
- WHEN: Saturday, August 19th @ 2:00pm-2:45pm (immediately following the parent meeting)
- WHERE: Glacier Ice Arena Conference Room (adjacent to the South Rink)
- WHAT: WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE CARMEL HOCKEY WORK!
- Specifically, we need volunteers to help out with:
- Security for games
- Game video volunteers
- Event planning
- Senior Night Planning
- Homecoming Planning
- Team Locker Posters
- End-of-season banquet planning
- Street Scenes
- Etc. Please help!
- Tryout Fee must be Paid PRIOR to Tryouts:
- CHECK for $500 made out to CARMEL CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL with CARMEL HOCKEY in the memo field on the check.
- Venmo & Zelle are not available for Tryout Fee.
- Please hand your check to Cliff Hieronymus at the Parent Kickoff Meeting
- Players will not be permitted to tryout if a check has not been received.
